{"id":279,"date":"2019-11-20T11:14:15","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T01:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/?p=279"},"modified":"2019-11-20T11:14:15","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T01:14:15","slug":"world-copd-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/factors-affecting-breathlessness\/world-copd-day\/","title":{"rendered":"World COPD Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On this day World COPD Day 2019,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goldcopd.org\/world-copd-day\/\">https:\/\/goldcopd.org\/world-copd-day\/<\/a>\u00a0bringing awareness of COPD, it&#8217;s important to remember some key self management strategies that you need in the community to prevent unnecessary admissions and stay at home independently:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>COPD plans<\/strong> must be filled in by your allied health professional or GP to better understand how and when your medications are to be used and left where family\/housemates are aware of your needs when you are too breathless to talk yourself.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Correct inhaler device and spacer<\/strong> use means the medication is effectively going into your lungs and not lining your mouth and causing side effects such as thrush. <strong>Asthma relievers if used more than 2 in 7 days is not under control, please seek help from your GP or your breath management health professional.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/COPD-2019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/COPD-2019-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/COPD-2019-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.inlifetherapy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/COPD-2019.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Breathing techniques<\/strong> that take the work out of breathing and reduce recovery times post activity keep you moving through the day for longer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exercise<\/strong> is an important way of preventing deconditioning.
